Especially in the chemical industry but also with other applications the ATEX requirements increase steadily. Many manufacturers interpret the ATEX guidelines in such a way that machines which are used in a pressure range of below 800 mbar are not subject to the certification. However, this is only partly correct, as the harmonized standard EN13463-1:2001 (D) adds clearly that in case of machines “not being within range of validity of this standard,….., the suitability of the devices forpossible application conditions must be clearly described and be proven.” With all this in mind Aerzener Maschinenfabrik GmbH decided that the complete vacuum series is subject to a type testing according to guideline 94/9/EG, in order to provide plant manufacturers and –users with safe solutions as per ATEX. Therefore, Aerzen vacuum blower series HV as well as blowers with canned motor of series CM had been certified for zone 0 (internal), temperature class T3 (200 °C).
